Kefaya Jazz Concert

Kefaya is an international collective of musicians founded and led by virtuoso Italian guitarist, Giuliano Modarelli and renowned British pianist, Al MacSween. Exploring world folk traditions through improvisation, live electronics and contemporary grooves, Kefaya’s appeal is in their ability to combine musical idioms in a unique and organic way, with influences spanning across Europe, India and Africa to the Caribbean, Latin America and the Middle East. Their sound results from a deep understanding of different musical languages and from their extensive collaborative projects with artists from across the globe, including Cuban jazz pioneer Omar Puente, flamenco singer Chico Perez, tabla maestro Bickram Ghosh, Palestinian oud virtuoso Ahmed Eriqat and many others.

Over the past few years they have been collaborating with many esteemed Indian artists, including Shankar Mahadevan, Bickram Ghosh, Purbayan Chaterjee, Niladri Kumar, Shankar Tucker, Paban Das Baul, Sharmila Tagore, Pete Lockett, Talvin Singh and many others.

In India, they will be performing material from their soon to be released debut album, Radio International, which broadcasts stories of migration, tales of musical encounters and sounds of resistance.
