On the occasion of 18th edition of Italian Language Week, Italian Embassy Cultural Centre is organizing the presentation & screening of an italian film and a talk on the theme “Internet and languages”.
“Internet and languages” is a complex subject with many interpretations and developments. What does it mean today to get information, to read, to generate a critical thought that brings us out of the comfort zone in which we settle our intellect. The new technologies allow us to convey thousands of information to a vast public and in record time. But what remains of this communication in our life?
When we read a post from our smartphone, are we sure we understand its meaning? And it is in this great babel of fast, hasty and often inaccurate communication where perhaps the true meaning of words is lost. For these reasons we have thought of a project that can put the importance of words at the center, that brings us back to an effort of reflection, trying to sediment what surrounds us.
11am to 1pm – Presentation and screening of the Italian film “Le arancie di Montalbano” at St Andrew’s College, Bandra.
5pm to 7pm – Internet and languages: A Talk by Prof Tanya Roy, University of Delhi at Asiatic Society, Fort
