“LEONARDO DA VINCI – Anatomie Spirituali” created by Raphael Bianco and performed by Compagnia EgriBiancoDanza, arrives at the Kochi Muziris Biennale as part of the ERGO SUM project.
Inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s anatomical studies and in honour of the 500th anniversary of his death, the work celebrates his legacy as inventor, scientist, author and humanist. The choreography explores identity, body, and consciousness through a symbolic process of “dissection”. Movement and stillness reveal tensions between interior and exterior, strength and fragility. Accompanied by a sound score integrating natural sounds and contemporary music, the work unfolds as a symbolic stage composition without a linear narrative.
Founded in Turin in 1999, Compagnia EgriBiancoDanza is recognized for its artistic research focused on social and spiritual values, with a repertoire that combines tradition and innovation. “LEONARDO DA VINCI – Spiritual Anatomies” represents a significant contribution to the dialogue between contemporary dance, art, and humanistic thought.
This programme is supported by MiC – Ministero della Cultura, Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Mumbai, Regione Piemonte, Fondazione CRT, and CGH Earth. The project is in collaboration with Attakkalari Dance Centre, and Fondazione CROSS.
