{"id":5812,"date":"2026-10-05T12:48:07","date_gmt":"2026-10-05T07:18:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iicmumbai.esteri.it\/?p=5812"},"modified":"2026-10-05T12:50:58","modified_gmt":"2026-10-05T07:20:58","slug":"international-coffee-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iicmumbai.esteri.it\/en\/news\/dall_istituto\/2026\/10\/international-coffee-day\/","title":{"rendered":"International Coffee Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the occasion of <\/span><b>International Coffee Day<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the Italian Cultural Institute in Mumbai and the Consulate General of Italy in Mumbai organized a special event dedicated to the cultural, sensory and social dimensions of coffee, bringing together Italian and Indian perspectives on one of the world\u2019s most beloved beverages.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The event offered an opportunity to explore the history and evolution of coffee in Italy: from the birth of the first <\/span><b>literary caf\u00e9s<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which became meeting places for writers, intellectuals and artists, to coffee as an everyday ritual deeply rooted in Italian culture. The program also looked towards the future, focusing on the importance of <\/span><b>sustainability in coffee production<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and on the challenges facing the sector.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A special focus was placed on the connections between Italian and Indian coffee cultures.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Emanuela Panke<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> introduced the cultural significance of coffee and illustrated some of the different preparation methods traditionally used in Italy, also exploring the characteristics of Indian <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">monsooned<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> coffee.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Alberto Di Stolfo<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, coffee expert from Caff\u00e8 Vergnano, presented the history and identity of the Italian company and guided participants through the different stages involved in coffee extraction, offering insights into the processes behind the preparation of a cup of coffee.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The event also invited participants to experience coffee through different senses: a dedicated <\/span><b>sensory kit<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> allowed visitors to explore its characteristics through touch, smell and sound.
