Stefano Ragni – The Musical Word

A scholar of classical composition, a graduate in theoretical philosophy, awarded musical diplomas (piano, composition, choral music and choral conducting), Stefano Ragni is currently teaching at the Conservatory and at the Università per Stranieri di Perugia.
His work as a performer, lecturer and teacher, a dynamic force in the Italian music repertoire, has taken him to places like the US, Latin America, Azerbaijan, Sudan and Vietnam just to mention a few.
Author of twenty volumes about music, one of which is a treatise on the history of Italian music distributed all over the world. In 2005 he was advisor to the National Committee for the Celebration of the Bicentennial of the birth of Giuseppe Mazzini.
In 2012, as a member of the board of the Foundation Simonetta Puccini in Torre del Lago, he inaugurated the restored Förster piano, that once belonged to maestro Puccini. In 2013 he was part of the scientific committee of the Celebrations of the Verdi Year, established by the Cabinet of Ministers.
On 30th  October in Mumbai, he will hold a  Lecture-Concert titled  The Musical Word with a performance by baritone Oscar Castellino. On 31st October he will participate into a round table titled Caught in a Loop. The challenges facing classical music today with T M Krishna, Shantanu Moitra, chair: Sumana Raman.
