Travelling Through Books - Lost and Found in Translation

How does a translator keep to the spirit and sound of the original? What's common between Italian, Bengal and Tamil? Discussed by Clara Nubile, Arunava Sinha and Kannan Sundaram, moderated by cultural theorist Ranjit Hoskote.

Clara Nubile is an Italian author and translator. She has published three novels: Io ti attacco nel sangue , Lupo , Tu come tutto quello che tocchi, and a collection of short-stories Tabaccherie orientali plus several essays and articles. Squame is her latest work: a collection of poems set in Mumbai. Among her most notable translations into Italian: Life of Pi by Yann Martell, The Everest Hotel by Allan Sealy, Mumbai Fables by Gyan Prakash.
