Claudio Filippini from Italy’s Abruzzo region has proven himself to be an enlightened, talented musician, among the greatest in new Italian jazz. As member of Fabrizio Bosso Quartet, he recorded a tribute to the music of Nino Rota with the London Symphony Orchestra.
His collaborations include Winton Marsalis, Dee Bridgwater, Giovanni Tommaso, Mario Biondi. The empathy with bassist Luca Bulgarelli and Marcello Di Leonardo — the former being a real reference in Italian jazz, the latter one of the most intriguing emerging drummers in Italy — is taking increasingly interesting forms.
His latest studio-recorded album, a celebration of the ten-year artistic partnership with his trio, once again recalls the strong affinity among the three players and clearly shows how he has artistically matured into one of the most sophisticated performers in the European jazz scene.
