Kalàscima — Psychedelic Trance Tarantella

Kalàscima is an infectious trance-folk experience of percussion, vocal, and electronic sound. As one of Italy’s most acclaimed contemporary musical collaborations, Kalàscima is unique in its energy and rhythm, a fusion of the ancient and modern in an all night revelation of sound.
The explosive, energetic and captivating Kalàscima comprises six members, who share about 25 instruments between themselves – ranging from bouzouki to zampogna (Italian bagpipes) traditional flutes, italian organetto, a spectacularly large array of percussion and thrilling vocal and modern instruments (bass guitar and loop machine), and even a kanjira.
There is a family-like bond between Luca Buccarella, Federico Laganà, Massimiliano De Marco, Riccardo Basile, Aldo Iezza and Roberto Chiga, all of whom grew up together in rural Salento. They picked up the traditional Italian folk music from their grandparents and added current musical instruments and technology.
