Pulcinella by Bruno Leone at Kathakar International Storytellers Festival

Stories of Pulcinella - A puppet show of classical canovacci (scenes) from commedia dell'arte by Bruno Leone

Saturday, 9 December 2017

Bhau Daji Lad Museum, 2-4pm | Sunken Gardens, NCPA Mumbai, 6-8:30pm

Pulcinella is an art of presenting ancient dramas with modern and universal themes accompanied by other ancient and modern stories. The show can become a meeting, lesson, history, or travel in the amazing world of Neapolitan puppetry.

Bruno Leone is a Neapolitan artist, considered one of the last great interpreter of Pulcinella's classical canovacci. He is the son of artists and knows the world of puppets, "guarattelle", as they are called in Naples. Bruno Leone brings to the fore the ancient canovacci of street theater, discovering the ancient wisdom of the world of masks and presenting it in a modern context. His shows are a mix of history, fantasy, popular wisdom, fusion of comic and spirituality. His artistic research has led him to travel through the streets of the world in far-away countries like China, Palestine, Kurdistan, India, Turkey, Egypt, Mexico.

Kathakar - International Storytellers Festival aims to preserve and promote the ancient art of storytelling. Storytellers from around the world narrate their stories in different ways - using circus acts, puppet shows and music.
