Italian Research Day - Space Girls Space Women

A Project conceived and produced by SIPA Press

On the occasion of 1st edition of Italian Research Day, an exhibition will be held at Nehru Planetarium which will celebrate the contribution of women in various fields of the space industry. The women featured in ‘Space Girls, Space Women’ will show, with their testimonies and passion, that Space is an exciting domain where women can and do work highly successfully. Their stories will be an invitation to young girls to follow in their footsteps. With this in mind, ESA has decided to join forces with Sipa Press and become the Founding Partner of ‘Space Girls, Space Women’.

The project - Space Girls Space Women- has been made possible thanks to the commitment of founding partner European Space Agency (ESA). CNES, ASI, La Cité de l’espace, and the GSA are also participating in this co-production. Universcience co-produced the multimedia application with an ESTIM grant.

European Space Agency (ESA)
ESA, Europe’s gateway to Space, is an intergovernmental organisation, created in 1975, with the mission to shape the development of Europe’s Space capability and ensure that investment in Space delivers benefits to the citizens of Europe and the world. By coordinating the financial and intellectual resources of its 22 member States, ESA undertakes programmes and activities far beyond the scope of any single European country. Space can play a key role in inspiring society and motivating young people to undertake scientific and technical studies. This is important for the future of Europe, and ESA is therefore committed to making it happen.

Italian Space Agency (ASI)
Founded in 1988, ASI is a government agency supervised by the Ministry of Education, University and Research; it also works in cooperation with other ministries. In less than two decades, ASI has become one of the leading players in the world scene of Space science and satellite technologies; it has also contributed significantly to the development of systems aimed at reaching and exploring the universe. Nowadays, ASI is playing a key role both at European level, where Italy is the third cooperating country of the European Space Agency, and worldwide, representing the sixth Space authority.

SIPA Press
