Thinking Architecture – Design and New Approaches for a Sustainable Future

As part of the Italian Design Day 2022, Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Mumbai and Architecture Foundation organize a conversation titled ‘Thinking Architecture – Design and New Approaches for a Sustainable Future’, between the internationally renowned architects Rahul Mehrotra and Raul Pantaleo.The conversation will be moderated by designer Andrea Anastasio and Ela Singhal, general manager of Architecture Foundation.

Rahul Mehrotra is a Professor of Urban Design and Planning and the John T. Dunlop Professor in Housing and Urbanization at the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University. He is the founder principal of RMA Architects, which has studios in Mumbai and Boston. RMA Architects, was founded in 1990 and has designed and executed projects including government and private institution buildings, corporates workplaces, private homes and unsolicited projects driven by the firm’s commitment to advocacy in the city of Mumbai.

Raul Pantaleo is an Italian architect, born in Milan, graduated from the Faculty of Architecture in Venice. He is one of the co-founders of “TAMassociati”, a studio specialized in impact design.

Since 2019 Professor at the architecture faculty of Trieste. Some of the current and completed projects include: The Salam Centre for the Cardiac Surgery for the Emergency NGO in Sudan 2013- Winner of the Aga Khan award for architecture, Children Surgery Centre for Emergency NGO in Uganda with Renzo Piano; healthcare buildings in Darfur, Sudan, Central African Republic, Sierra Leon, Rwanda, Afghanistan, Iraq, Kenya, Senegal and Uganda.
