The Italian Cultural Institute in Mumbai, in collaboration with the Centre for European Studies and the Department of French at the University of Mumbai, organised a screening of “Enrico Piaggio – An Italian Dream” at Shankarrao Chavan Bhavan, University of Mumbai, Kalina.
The event was introduced by Raffaello Barbieri, Director of the Istituto Italiano di Cultura Mumbai, and held as part of 26th Week of the Italian Language in the World.
The film tells the story of Enrico Piaggio, the Italian entrepreneur behind one of the most recognisable symbols of Made in Italy: the Vespa. Through his vision, determination and entrepreneurial spirit, Piaggio contributed to the transformation of Italy’s industrial landscape in the post-war years, creating a product that would become an international icon of Italian design and lifestyle.
The screening offered students and participants an opportunity to explore an important chapter of Italian industrial and cultural history, while reflecting on the connections between entrepreneurship, innovation and creativity.
The initiative also reaffirmed the Institute’s commitment to fostering dialogue and collaboration with Indian academic institutions, bringing Italian culture and contemporary heritage to new audiences.
