The “Mumbai International Film Festival” organized by the Films Division, the official film promotion agency of the Ministry of Information, begins on 29 May in the presence of numerous institutional representatives of the Indian government. The presence of Italian cinema in this edition, supported by the Istituto Italiano di Cultura and the Consulate General of Italy in Mumbai, is of high profile with six films on the program. The competition includes the categories of short films, animation and documentaries, and sees two Italian works in the international competition: “Chiusi alla luce” by Nicola Piovesan and “Venice elsewhere” Elia Romanelli. In a special section are presented “Ultimina” by Jacopo Quadri and “Notturno” by Gianfranco Rosi. A special tribute is instead dedicated to the great Italian director Cecilia Magnini, recently passed away. Her recent “the woprld in shots” and “Grazia Deledda, the revolutionary” will be screened, both co-directed with Paolo Pisanelli.
