GIULIANA SOSCIA INDO JAZZ PROJECT

Giuliana Soscia will be performing in a musical concert in India with her Indo Jazz Project. This project comes from an idea of Giuliana Soscia, who as a pianist as well as composer, directs an extraordinary artistic ensemble with members coming from different musical cultures, from such diverse backgrounds as classical music, jazz, ethnic music from both Italy and India. They are bonded together by a love of their respective musical traditions, as well as Ms. Soscia’s compositional vision validated by the creative and improvisational approach of each individual musician. The repertory is entirely comprised of Giuliana Soscia’s original compositions reflecting her own personal vision of Indian music, works conceived as the link between due different musical worlds, Indian and Italian, in which the composer seizes and underlines the characteristic high points such as the profoundness of the universal message and moods, utilizing in her musical writings modal elements taken from Indian traditions e musical forms common in jazz as well as melodies inspired by a typically Italian musical language.

 

Giuliana Soscia is a highly regarded jazz composer and is included among the great names of the international jazz scene. She directs jazz orchestras, and is one of the most renowned players in Italy of the piano and accordion.
Mario Marzi is the guest of honor, a world renowned sax soloist and virtuoso.
Paolo Innarella is one of the most creative jazz musicians and is also highly passionate about Indian music. He plays tenor sax, flute, different ethnic flutes as well as the bansuri.
Rohan Dasgupta, an Indian sitar virtuoso known for his meditative and dynamic style.
Aldo Vigorito can be counted amongst the most important jazz bassists in Italy and has performed with most of the international jazz musicians.
Sanjay Kansa Banik, an extraordinary virtuoso Indian tablas player who has been living for years in Italy and is the renowned tablas soloist with the Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio.
