ArtOxygen (ArtO2) is proud to launch the first intervention of Italian artist Valentina Furian in Mumbai at Method Contemporary Art. Valentina will present Before, an installation and video screening based on multiple recordings compiled from a single spot at Aarey Forest over one week. Drawing from the everyday life of Mumbai’s largest green reserve, the artist uses still and moving image to construct staged settings. Here natural environments turn aseptic, reversing perceptions of truth and in turn confusing fact and fiction.
Before is presented by UBI Banca in partnership with The Blank Contemporary, Method Contemporary Art, Aarey Conservation Group and Mumbai University, with the support of the Italian Embassy Cultural Centre.
Valentina Furian works mainly with video. Her images investigate the connection between man and nature and explore the representation of artificial and natural environments. Her works have been shown at Galleria Continua, The Blank Contemporary Art, MAMbo Museum of Modern Art of Bologna, Civic Museums of Bassano del Grappa, CareOf, ViaFarini, Fondazione Bevilacqua la Masa.
