The Italian Cultural Institute in Mumbai is pleased to support the concert organised by the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) and the Symphony Orchestra of India (SOI).

The Principal Conductor at the Deutsches Nationaltheater und Staatskapelle Weimar and Music Director of VoceAllOpera, Marco Alibrando, conducts the SOI Chamber Orchestra.

The evening opens with St. Paul’s Suite by Holst, written for the students of St Paul’s Girls’ School in Hammersmith, London, where Holst taught for nearly three decades. The orchestra will then present Felix Mendelssohn’s String Symphony No. 7, a brilliant early work written when the prodigy was just around 12-14 years old, reflecting the influence of Joseph Haydn, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Joining the orchestra is acclaimed tenor Angel Romero, winner of the Second and Zarzuela Prizes in Operalia 2024, hosted at the NCPA. He will perform a selection of beloved Italian vocal works by Gastaldon, Brogi, Di Lazzaro, Denza, Verdi, and Rossini, showcasing the passion, lyricism and charm of the Italian vocal tradition to Mumbai.
