Piano recital by Elia Cecino

PIANO RECITAL

Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Mumbai in collaboration with NCPA, Mehli Mehta Music Foundation and the Poona Music Society presents the first tour in India of pianist Elia Cecino.

Known for his intense and sensitive interpretations of Chopin and Beethoven, Elia Cecino, winner of the first prize at the València Iturbi International Piano Competition 2023, is considered to be among the greatest pianists of the new generation. A prizewinner of multiple international piano competitions and with a well-received discography to his name, Cecino enjoys a busy international touring schedule performing solo at multiple venues across the world such as Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, La Fenice Opera House and Teatro Malibran in Venice, etc. He has also performed as a soloist with multiple orchestras such as the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Orchestra del Teatro La Fenice, Israel Philharmonic, among others with critiques bearing testament to his nuanced playing.

Elia Cecino has numerous international awards to his name, including the first prize at the Iturbi International Piano Competition 2023 in Valencia. Born in Italy in 2001, he began his studies at 9 with Maddalena De Facci and graduated Summa cum Laude from Cesena Conservatory at 17. The following year Elia won the prestigious Premio Venezia, competition reserved for the best graduates of the Italian Conservatories. He has also won the first prize at several other international piano competitions, including the New Orleans International Piano Competition, James Mottram International Piano Competition, and Ricard Viñes International Piano Competition. Cecino has released his debut CD on Suonare Records, a monographic Chopin album, and two new recordings for IBS Classical and Piano Classics. He has performed with various orchestras and collaborated with conductors such as Riccardo Frizza, Oleg Caetani, and Yoel Levi. Additionally, he has been a finalist at the Arthur Rubinstein Piano Master Competition in Tel Aviv and received the Vendome Virtuoso Award at the Vendome Prize in New York. He has been featured in various broadcasts and live streams of his performances, and he was part of the TV program “Prodigi” for Unicef.
