In celebration of the Italian Design Day 2024, the Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Mumbai and the Consulate General of Italy in Mumbai present Sinceramente, Gae – a portrait of Gae Aulenti, the great Italian architect and designer. The film is directed by Didi Gnocchi and Matteo Moneta, and produced by 3D Produzioni.

Curated by Didi Gnocchi and Matteo Moneta, the documentary “Sinceramente, Gae” gives us a never-before-seen portrait of Gae Aulenti: a life lived with intensity and irony, a career pursued with willpower and talent.
This rare interview-portrait from the late 1990s vividly conveys Gae’s spirit through interviews with family members, architects and art historians: From her childhood up to her arrival at the Polytechnic in Milan and entry into a male-dominated world. And then, the great architectural wonders such as the Musée d’Orsay, the theatre designed with Luca Ronconi, in design, and also her relationship with the men in her life, and family ties.
Putting aside her proverbial discretion, Gae offers us an unconventional, affable and charming image of herself.
