Three unique and different musical personalities come together for a special trio project that combines formal elegance with both traditional and modern musical elements deriving from the Mediterranean area and from India, intertwining the most significant tradition of Jazz with the charm of world music. Three real Maestros with decorated careers, undisputed virtuosos, whose projects aim at expanding musical boundaries and exploring new cultures. Three extraordinary performers, seeking inspiration by challenging each other, with the intent to transmit and share this unique experience with the audience.

Paolo Fresu – Recipient of various prestigious awards, professor and director of numerous Italian and international institutions, Paolo Fresu has been performing all over the world with the most important names in Afro-American music of the past 30 years. He has participated in some 500 recordings, some as a leader and others as a sideman, and also in several projects combining ethnic, jazz, world music, ancient and contemporary music. Fresu is artistic director of Berchidda’s famous “Time In Jazz” festival, which has reached the threshold of 40 editions. He is also involved in the production of numerous multimedia projects, collaborates with actors, dancers, painters, sculptors and poets, and writes music for films, documentaries, videos, ballets and plays. Paolo Fresu lives between Paris, Bologna and Sardinia. The unique sound of his trumpet is recognized as one of the most distinctive in the contemporary jazz scene. |

Rita Marcotulli – Pianist and composer Rita Marcotulli is an international musician respected for her unique style of sound and ability to improvise. Her source of inspiration is vast and includes influences from Brazilian, African and Indian music. She began her professional career in the early 1980s and released her first recording in 1984. Thanks to a series of prestigious collaborations, including Jon Christensen, Palle Danielsson, Peter Erskine, Joe Henderson, Joe Lovano, Charlie Mariano, Marilyn Mazur, Pat Metheny, Michel Portal, Enrico Rava, Dewey Redman, Aldo Romano, Kenny Wheeler, Norma Winstone, Billy Cobham, Pino Daniele, in a few years she established herself as an important figure in the contemporary jazz scene. She was appointed Ambassador of ‘Umbria in the world’. In 2019, she was nominated as a member of the Royal Academy of Sweden. She is also recipient of awards for her collaborations with the film industry and her music for films. |

Trilok Gurtu – A world-class percussionist, Trilok Gurtu is a five-time winner of the Downbeat Critics Poll for Best Percussionist, and a nominee for Best Artist Asia/Pacific for the BBC World Music Awards. He was born in Bombay to a family of musicians and began playing at the age of 6. His style, deeply rooted in Indian tradition combined with jazz and rock elements, have made him an accomplished master of World Music. His ardent sense of rhythm has attracted a long list of collaborations with internationally renowned artists, including John McLaughlin, Joe Zawinul, Jan Garbarek, Don Cherry, Pat Metheny, Pharoah Sanders, Dave Holland and with many musicians from India, Africa and other countries. From a lifetime of music and touring, Trilok has given his audiences splendid record works and countless appearances around the world. |
